VCJGA MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT

Match Play is the purest form of golf and unfortunately, not played as often as it should be.  Match Play is played by holes.  The player that wins the most holes, wins the match (Read/review USGA Rule 2).

A Match Play tournament is similar to the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  If you win, you continue to play; if you loose, you go home (except in the Semi Finals).

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:

DAY 1:  Monday, August 11th  All competitors play 18-holes, stroke play.  Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each division.

The field will cut by division:

• Boys 12-14 = Low 16 scores*
• Championship Boys = Low 16 scores*
• Championship Girls = Low 8 scores*

*Ties for last spot will be decided by play off/card off (depending on daylight) 

DAY 2:  Tuesday, August 12th

All competitors that make it to Match Play will be seeded based on Monday's qualifying score.  Players will then compete in early morning first round matches.  After a short lunch break, boy winners will play in a second round match.  Girls final four will play on Wednesday.

DAY 3:  Wednesday, August 13th

Boys that win their second round match will play in the semi-final matches in the early morning.  In the afternoon, the winners of the AM match will play each other in the final match and the two that were deafeted will play a consolation match.

Girls that won their first round match will play in the simi-final matches in the early morning.   In the afternoon, the winners of the AM match will play each other in the final match and the two that were deafeted will play a consolation match.
