FINAL RESULTS:

VCJGA MATCH-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

It all started Monday with 55 players trying to earn a spot in the match-play portion of this major championship. The tempuratures were warm throughout the week on the par 70, Los Robles layout in Thousand Oaks. Many thanks to host General Manager, John Barr and Event Coordinator, Christine Ball and their entire staff for their kind hospitality. Congratulations to our champions for surviving this marathon of golf played over the last three days:

Championship Boys: HOLEN SURVIVES 19-HOLE MATCH!

In the Championship Match, JJ Holen of Castaic and Kyle Holden of Simi Valley. After a back-and-forth match, Holen took a 1 up lead through 15 holes. With his back against the wall, Holden drove the final par 4 and made a birdie to tie and extend the match; however Holen hit two solid shots on the 19th hole and took the prize with a final par. Both players showed a lot of heart playing into the late hours. It was a long day, but both players were very gracious with the outcome. Jordan Cuthebert of Camarillo defeated Bobby Holden of Simi Valley in the Consolation Match 5 & 4.

Championship Girls: HOLDEN DEFENDS!

Shannon Holden of Simi Valley did something that doesn't happen that often, she successfully defended her title by defeating the number one seed Remy Molyneux of Westlake Village. The match went 14 holes in the slow moving and hot afternoon. Liz Cornelison of Westlake Village won the Consolation Match.

Boys 12-14: RUIZ EARNS VICTORY!

Johnny Ruiz of Oxnard earned his first victory in a big way, going the distance and defeating Alex Angard of Encino 1 up. Both players were visibly tired after having played nearly 90 holes and surviving four matches before meeting each other in the final. Walker Huddy of Studio City won the Consolation Match by defeating David Stitt of Simi Valley 5 & 4.
