JUNE 7, 2008 - Olivas Links Golf Course

Many THANKS to Lee Harlow, PGA, Carl Van Valier, PGA and the entire staff of Olivas Links! The golf course was in great condition and temperatures were mild with gentle breezes.

A big THANK YOU to our VOLUNTEERS that make tournaments successful and fun: Jeff Hutchison, Claudio Ponte, Tom Oyan, Nick Bublitz, Bernard Gross, Derek Marquis, Mr. Montano, Fred Pita & Nancy Wipf for giving of their valuable time.

GIRLS 10 & 11

Sophia Montano of Ventura played in her first event of 2008 and claimed first place to earn medalist honors.

BOYS 10 & 11

In the largest field of 2008, Peter Griffith of Westlake Village earned his first victory with some fine play on the difficult links layout. A birdie on the par-5 4th hole edged him past fellow competitors Jack Biwer, Sean Crocker and Dominic Rector all of Westlake Village finishing tied for second. In a tie for 5th was Nick Bublitz of Newbury Park and Thomas Weaver of Westlake Village. Spencer Soosman of Westlake Village and Elias Gross of Calabasas finished in a tie for 7th.

BOYS & GIRLS 8 & 9

Garrett Camenker of Camarillo captured the gold medal over Mike Pita of Santa Maria with the 4th and 9th holes making the difference.

Q-SCHOOL (3 Points earns VCJGA Tour Status)

Eight players set out to gain status on the VCJGA Tour trying to match or better a target score of 49 or better. Victor Ponte of Camarillo, Keaton Hutchison of Valencia and Greg Oyan of Ventura each earned their first point towards VCJGA Tour status.

PLAYERS: DON'T FORGET TO THANK YOUR PARENTS FOR THEIR LOVE & SUPPORT... YOU COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT THEM!
