Round 1 Recap

Many THANKS to the staff of Sinaloa Golf Course for their kind hospitality. Thick clouds and thunder storms threatened this Memorial weekend event, but in the end; the sun pushed through from time to time to warm the temperatures.

A big THANK YOU to our VOLUNTEERS that make tournaments successful and fun: Maurine Martin, Sue Chong, Roger Rice, Fred Pita, Alonzo, Dana Kwan & Nancy Wipf for giving of their valuable time.

GIRLS 10 & 11

Rebecca Marder of Simi Valley earned a one-stroke victory over Kristin Diep of Oxnard. Kristin did not feel 100% but finished strong on the final two holes. Rebecca secured the win with a solid two-putt on the final green.

BOYS 10 & 11

Westlake Village dominated as Dominic Rector earned his second victory of the season with a solid score of 29 (+2). His birdie on the difficult 8th hole made the difference. One stroke back in second found rookie Jack Biwer and Thomas Weaver. Biwer was the early leader with a birdie on the 2nd hole, but difficulties on the 8th ended his run. Weaver played his most consistent round this season, scoring six straight pars. Point's leader, Spencer Soosman got off to a rocky start, but put together a par-par-birdie stretch to stay in the running.

BOYS & GIRLS 8 & 9

Ventura's Ryan VanCamp earned his 4th victory of the season over Santa Maria's Mike Pita playing in his first tournament. VanCamp pared the first hole and never relinquished the lead.

Q-SCHOOL

Matthew Van Zandt of Thousand Oaks won the first playoff hole over Ventura's Aaron Wipf and Brian Wipf. Jefferson Martin of Ventura finished in fourth place.
