SPRING SOULE PARK OPEN

Scoring was higher due to cloudy, cool temperatures with difficult hole locations and gusty back nine winds.

Championship Boys (6,615 Yards - Par 36+35=71):  Alex Kang of Oak Park was King of his domain Sunday as he followed his first round 66 with a solid round of 68 to capture the title.  The 5th ranked (JGS) junior in the country compiled 13 birdies, 18 pars and only 5 bogies to finish the tournament with an 8-under total of 134.  Jordan Cuthbert's five birdies and a lone bogie to shoot 67 catapulted the Rio Mesa Junior and 2007 Pacific View Golf of the Year into a tie for second with Oxnard's Andrew Perez  (Santa Barbara HS), at four under par 138.  Westlake HS sophomore Chris Doyle shot 69 (140) and Hart HS Junior Tanner Diaz shot even par 71 (141).  Others top-10 finishers included:  Kyle Holden 75 (143), Daniel Slovis 68 (144) and JJ Holen with a 73 (145), Justin Edwards 75 (147), Shane Blanchard 70 (149), Michael Bassler 72 (149) and Ryan Sarmiento 75 (149).

Championship Girls (6,100 Yard - Par 36+35=71):  Shannon Holden of Simi Valley carded two back nine birdies to shoot a final round 77 and finish with a two day total of 160.  Remy Molyneux of Westlake Village made an eagle 3 on the par-5 2nd but had a difficult time carrying the momentum to the back nine.  Molyneux finished second with a 167.  Finishing in third was Westlake Villages Liz Cornelison making a key birdie on the difficult par-4 17th to pass Charlotte Gibson also of Westlake Village.

Boys 12-14 (6,100 Yards - Par 36+35=71):  Finishing what he started, Jonathan Sanders of Chatsworth shot a solid 73 closing the door with birdies on the final two holes!  His two day total of 149 was seven stokes ahead of Brock Drogosch of Westlake Village who finished with a 77 (156).  Alex Angard of Encino finished third shooting an 82 (162).  Dirk Guthrie of Ventura finished a shot back in fourth place with a 163 total.
