SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 - Westlake Village Golf Course
Summer Championship
Many THANKS to Chris Vatcher and his staff for their support of the VCJGA! The golf course was in great condition with warm tempuratures and strong breezes. Par at Westlake is 34+33=67. This is the second of two 18-hole tournaments contested each year on the Mini-Tour. A big THANK YOU to our VOLUNTEERS that make tournaments successful and fun.
Jack Biwer birdied the final hole to shoot 70 and earn the top spot by one stroke over Thomas Weaver and Spencer Soosman all of Westlake Village. This was Jack's seventh victory this season! Other top scorers were Steven Moentmann of Stevenson Ranch with a solid 72 and two more Westlake Villagers, Peter Griffith shot 73 and Dominic Rector 76.
Look out Boys 10-11 division, Matthew Mangawang earned his seventh gold medal of the season by shooting a solid 76 in his final outing as a 9 year old. Garrett Camneker continues his fine rookie season finishishing in second. Grant Drogosch, also a rookie, finish third for the third time this season.
Four players set out to gain status on the VCJGA Tour trying to match or better a target score of 45 or better on the front nine and 44 or better on the back nine. Garrett Hutchison of Valencia and Isaiah Tubbs of Moorpark each earned their first towards VCJGA Tour status. PLAYERS: LET YOUR PARENTS KNOW YOU APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT!
