FINAL RESULTS/RECAP

Sterling Hills Golf Club, Camarillo, CA - Par 35+36=71

Clear skies, temperatures in the high 70's and cooling breezes.  Course was in good condition.

Championship Boys:  SCHWANZ 64 MAKES IT THREE

First round leader, Nick Gajefski (2010) of Ventura got off to a hot start in the first round and rolled off five birdies on his first five holes and finished with a six under par round of 65!  About 4-minutes later, Tyler Schwanz (2010) of Oak Park hits the scoring tent with a 64 that included six birdies and an eagle on the par-4 seventh (his 16th hole)!

In Thursday's final round Tyler took control early with a birdie on the first hole and although Nick kept within striking distance and finished with a 139 (-3), the 2009 two-time winner was unable to catch the leader as Tyler earned his third victory of the season shooting a solid 72 and posting a two-day total of 136 (-6) . 

Finishing third and wondering what might of been was two-time 2009 champion, JJ Holen (2011) from Castaic.  His two-day total of 143 (+1) included 10 birdies that were derailed by untimely bogies.  In a tie for fourth place was last weeks Ventura County Champion, Johhny Ruiz (2012) of Camarillo and Brett Silvernial (2010) of Ventura each finishing at 144.  Tied for sixth with at 147 were Brandon Molnar (2010) of Calabasas and Matt Imbrogno (2010) of Westlake Village with their best finish of 2009.  In eighth place with a  149 was Benjamin Shur (2010) of Ventura.  Alone in ninth place was Zack Winchester (2011) of Encino.  Rounding out the top-10 were Taylor Stein (2011) of Newbury Park and Ricky Ulrich (2011) of Hidden Hills.

Championship Girls:  MOLYNEUX RUNS AND HIDES

Remy Molyneux (2010) of Westake Village earned her first victory this season, posting consistent rounds of 76-78 for a total of 154.  She ran away to hide as she started the day with a birdie three on the first hole, and made eagle three on the 16th.  Finishing in second in as many weeks was Taylor Gould (2010) of Simi Valley.  Her steady rounds of 85-85 gave her a two-day total of 170.  In a four-way tie for third at 172 were Ventura County Champion, Divya Manthena (2015) of Simi Valley, Emily Wisma (2010) of Ventura, Katie Rice (2012) of Oxnard, and VCJGA rookie, Vanesa Villa (2012) of Santa Barbara.  Alone in seventh was Malissa Doggett (2011) of Santa Clarita.

Boys 12-15:  CROCKER COMES FROM BEHIND

Sean Crocker (2014) of Westlake Village earned his second win of 2009 by posting two solid rounds of 75-76 to come from five strokes back was at 151.  Tied for second one stroke back at 152 were first round leader, Alex Kim (2013) of Oak Park who posted the best round of the tournament, a career low one-under 70 in the first round and Stephan Moffatt (2013) of Simi Valley who has finished second in his last three tournaments.

Finishing in fourth was Sean Searl (2012) of Santa Barbara with his fourth top-10 in-a-row.  In fifth place was Brett Hagy (2013) of Westlake Village.  Jake Andl (2014) of Westlake Village finished in sixth.  Victor Ponte (2014) of Camarillo finished in seventh.  Shooting a final round 74 was Michael Finney (2014) of La Canada in eighth.  In ninth was Michael Pfaff (2014) of Camarillo.  Rounding out the top-10 was Anthoney Wagner (2013) of Ventura.
