VCJGA - MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP presented by TITLEIST

FINAL RESULTS

Rustic Canyon Golf Course, Moorpark, CA - Par 36-36-72

Each morning began with thick fog that burned off by 8AM and turned to clear skies with warm temperatures.  The course was in great condition and played firm and fast with fast.  Many thanks to Buddy Kalencki, PGA and his staff for their kind hospitality.

Championship Boys:  RUIZ REPEATS

The number one seed, Johnny Ruiz of Camarillo defeated Thomas Lim of Moorpark 2 & 1 in a battle between two seasoned players.  Each time one of the players took a lead, the other would immediately roar back.  Both players showed a lot of poise and self control which led to many great shots throughout the day.  Johnny was the Boys 12-15 victor last year.

Nick Gajefski of Ventura won the Consolation over Clayton Thatch of Valencia.   

Championship Girls:  DIEP DOES IT

Kristen Diep, the number one seed from Oxnard defeated Remy Molyneux of Westlake Village 2 & 1 in a closely contested Championship final.

Taylor Gould of Simi Valley won the Consolation match.

Boys 12-15:   ANGARD TOOK CONTROL

Alex Angard of Encino deafeated the number one seed, Stephan Moffatt of Simi Valley for the Match Play Championship.  Alex made an eagle on the reachable par-5 first and never looked back.  Moffatt, the runner-up, disposed of his opponents in all his matches early and never had to play past the 14th hole.  Angard seemed possessed playing his last two matches 12 under par.

Jack Biwer of Westlake Village defeated Alex Kim of Oak Park in a duel that went 18-holes.  Jack came out on top with 1-up to capture the Consolation match.
