Clouds, cool temperatures and wind caused made for difficult scoring conditions.

Championship Boys:  THATCH'S 68 LEADS & GOODWIN ACES!

Clayton Thatch, from Valencia (2010) had a round with more highs than lows today on his way to the top of the first round lead with a solid 68 (-2).  His round was highlighted by three birdies and an eagle on the long par 5 tenth.  Three strokes back is his West Ranch High School teammate, JJ Holen of Castaic (2011).  JJ got off to a bad start, but managed five birdies and finished with a 71 (+1).  Buena High School fresman, Dirk Guthrie from Ventura (2012) is in third with a 72 (+2).  Others include: 73 - Alex Romo, Oxnard (2009); Benjamin Shur, Ventura (2010).  74 - Ryan Prosser, Newbury Park (2010); Nick Gajefski, Ventura (2010); Kohlten Goodwin, Valencia (2009).  CONGRATULATIONS to Kohlten Goodwin for a hole-in-one on the par 3 11th!

Championship Girls:  CHEN LEADS MOLYNEUX BY ONE!

Sophia Chen of Newbury Park (2013) had an up-and-down 78 that was good enough for a one stroke lead.  Remy Molyneux of Westlake Village (2010) shot a no birdie round of 79.  In third is Katie Rice of Oxnard (2012) shooting an 81.

Boys 12-15:  ANGARD LEADS BY THREE!

Alex Angard of Encino (2013) had a difficult fifth hole today, but a round that also included six birdies salvaged his round.  Three strokes back is Stephan Moffatt of Simi Valley (2013) shot a 74 that included three birdies.  In third is Sean Searls of Ventura (2012) shooting a 75.  Others include: 76 - Drew Miller, Westlake Village (2012); Gregory Robarge II, Ventura (2013).  78 - Jake Andl, Westlake Village (2015); Alex B. Kim, Oak Park (2013).
